Voice Description / Bio
For narration, Toby has a natural RP voice and an upbeat, friendly, warm delivery, equipped with a natural gravitas. He has a good ear and swift adaptability, as well as superb comic timing and a gift for different characters and accents. An excellent sight reader, Toby can master complicated technical and medical terms very quickly.
Toby is an experienced TV, radio and theatre actor and Sony Award nominated writer. He is also a regular fixture on the UK circuit as an award winning stand-up comedian and has performed his own shows at the West End.
He is the voice of The 7th Dimension on BBC Radio 4 Extra and counts enthusiastic geekery as one of his specialities, though his calm and measured tones have lent themselves equally well to a number of corporate and medically orientated projects. His hefty voiceover CV includes countless radio adverts, idents, corporates, narrations and character work for animations and computer games. He provided distinct characterisations for the Lego Harry Potter computer game and if past evidence is anything to go by, is a dab hand at making trolls, sprites, toffs, eccentric old men and aliens come to life.
Recent work includes: the BBC's Absent Friends (narrating this radio documentary, 4 Extra), the BBC Doctor Who DVD range (as presenter and voice over), Gabriel Ash (TV advert), LX Academy Awards, EXIT UK (anti-hate campaign narration), Aldi (radio campaign), Karcher Pressure Washers (website), Vileda Super Mop (TV advert), ITV's prime time Remembrance Day documentary (TV), BBC's The Return of 'Allo 'Allo (TV), various Radio 3 documentaries, Persimmon, Evans Halshaw Ford, Manchester Comedy Festival, Trainline Radio, Think Safe Drink Safe Campaign, Mega Rider, Channel M and Top Skips. He has also featured in dozens Radio 4 plays and serials, a number of Big Finish audio dramas and many audiobooks.
